RETP: Regents' Engineering Transfer Program
The Regents' Engineering Transfer Program (RETP) is a collaborative program between Georgia Tech and Armstrong Atlantic State University. The program was established in 1987 as a path of transfer to Georgia Tech, providing additional opportunities to Georgia residents for an engineering education.
RETP supports all of Georgia Tech's engineering disciplines: Aerospace & Aeronautical, Chemical, Civil & Environmental, Computer & Electrical, Industrial & Systems, Materials, Mechanical, Nuclear & Radiological, and Textiles & Fibers. RETP students complete the first two years of coursework at Armstrong, and then transfer to the Georgia Tech campus in Atlanta to finish the last two years of courses. Participation in RETP is limited to Georgia residents.
How The Program Works:
Armstrong Atlantic State University offers all of the mathematics and
science courses required in the first two years of most engineering
programs and many of the engineering courses included in the first
two years of the Georgia Tech curriculum. These beginning engineering
courses are equivalent to the courses taught on the Georgia Tech
campus.
Students begin their college studies at AASU and then transfer to the Georgia Tech campus to complete requirements for an engineering degree. Student's usually transfer at the completion of the sophomore year. Enrollment in the Regents' Engineering Transfer Program provides an opportunity for students to begin their engineering studies in an environment of small classes and personal attention. Smaller classes facilitate students in establishing a strong foundation in these basic courses.
